Slovakia 2 Canada 3

Slovakia was just AMAZING in this Olympics.
As an underdog they managed to beat Sweden and Russia.
These were huge surprises to me.
They didn't seem to get many shots but they sure capitalized on the little chances they got.
Not to mention their power play was 1 in 3!

Today they showed so much guts too.
Almost coming back from a 3-0 deficit in the 3rd period.
In the first 2 periods Canada had more shots, but Slovakia had way more shots in the 3rd.
Biggest highlight was in the last minute when Slovakia's goalie left the ice.
The 6-5 hockey was so desperate and so touching.
Shots after shots were fired.
Canada managed to hold on but it was definitely not pretty for us.
I had never been this touched from watching a game.
There was an ovation for them as they were leaving the ice too.
I think a lot of people was like me, wanted Canada to win but couldn't help cheering for Slovakia.
Even though they still have some ways to go before being able to match up to Canada and US, I'm sure they will do big things in the next Olympics.

In the 3rd Canada's play seemed to have broken down.
There was hardly any offense....and the defense, sucked too!
I don't know what they were waiting for.
Seems they just wanted to waste time, but not really trying hard on defense either.
They didn't seem to be trying hard like in the first 2 periods.
Cept Luongo of course.
There was a few really scary moments, like the one where he had the puck between his leg and arm.
I hope we don't go into the gold medal game with this mentality though.
Cos it's not gonna cut it against the US.
